The clinic, which is being held in conjunction with the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association State Conference, is for P.A. announcers who announce junior high/middle school, high school, college and youth basketball. Substitute announcers, as well as high school and college students, who would like to learn how to announce or who are announcing, are encouraged to register.
In addition to learning how to properly announce basketball, the clinic will cover other aspects of announcing, including sportsmanship and promoting a positive environment, and dealing with emergency situations, all of which have liability implications.
"There is more to P.A. announcing than just having a good voice and years of experience,” commented Brad Rumble, NIAAA Executive Director. “Because announcers play a key role in making events successful and safer, it is important that they obtain proper training and education. The NASPAA is delighted to have Mike Jakubowski, P.A. announcer for the Marquette University Golden Eagles, as our clinician. Announcers who are fortunate to attend the clinic are in for a real treat."
