Clinic Information

The National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers (NASPAA), the professional association for sports public address announcers, will conduct a clinic for public address announcers on August 9 from 1:00 p.m.—4:00 p.m. at Westminster High School in Atlanta.

The clinic is for P.A. announcers who announce junior high/middle school, high school, college and youth football.  Substitute announcers, as well as high school and college students, who would like to learn how to announce or who are announcing, are encouraged to register.

Tim Hanchey

Tim Hanchey, Stadium Announcer for the Atlanta Falcons and the P.A. announcer for the Georgia Force of the Arena Football League, will be the clinician.  His NCAA Division I football announcing resume includes the 2006 and 2007 Chick-Fil-A Bowls, which match top SEC and ACC football programs.  He is also scheduled to announce this year’s football season opener between the University of Alabama and Clemson University at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Besides learning how to properly announce football, the clinic will cover other aspects of announcing, including sportsmanship and promoting a positive environment, and dealing with emergency situations, all of which have liability implications.

"Westminster High School is pleased to have the opportunity to host the first-ever NASPAA Football P.A. Announcers’ Clinic in Georgia," commented Rusty Hudson, CMAA, Director of Athletics for Westminster High School.  "Announcers at all levels play an important role in the administration of games and events, which is why training and education is so important."

"It goes without saying how much the NASPAA appreciates the support of the Georgia High School Association", remarked Brad Rumble, NASPAA Executive Director.  "Ralph Swearngin, GHSA Executive Director, understands how important professional development is for P.A. announcers, and is to be commended for making this opportunity possible."
