The clinic is for P.A. announcers who announce junior high/middle school, high school, college and youth football.Substitute announcers, as well as high school and college students, who would like to learn how to announce or who are announcing, are encouraged to register.

Dan Roberts, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Stadium Announcer, will be the clinician. Beginning this season, Dan will have been working Chiefs’ games for 30 years. He got his start in public address announcing in 1970 as an auto race announcer at I-70 Speedway outside of Odessa, Missouri where he called the action for several. Ultimately, he became the P.A. announcer at other special races around the country. He has announced the national Punt, Pass, and Kick finals on network television. In 2001, shortly after 9/11, on CBS television, Dan humbly introduced the heroes, including the New York City firefighters who were guests of the Chiefs for the season opening game with the Jets. In 2001 Dan was invited to be the stadium voice of Kansas City's 150th anniversary celebration, KC 150, and had the honor to work with broadcast news legend Walter Cronkite.
In addition to learning how to properly announce football, the clinic will cover other aspects of announcing, including sportsmanship and promoting a positive environment, and dealing with emergency situations, all of which have liability implications.
"We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to host the first-ever NASPAA Football P.A. Announcers’ Clinic in Kansas City,” commented Richard Bechard, Director of Student Activities and Transportation for the Blue Valley Schools. “Schools that would like to provide their announcers with training and education will be well served to send them or encourage them to attend this clinic."
